1981 was one of the most violent year’s in New York City history. Director J.C Chandor (All Is Lost) attempts to bring that story to life in his new thriller A Most Violent Year.
Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, The Help) and Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis, The Two Faces of January) star in this story about an immigrant and his family trying to survive a violent Big Apple in 1981. Here’s the synopsis via IMDB:
Set during the winter of 1981 — statistically one of the most crime-ridden of New York City’s history — this drama follows the lives of an immigrant and his family as they attempt to capitalize on the American Dream, while the rampant violence, decay, and corruption of the day drag them in and threaten to destroy all they have built
Two great actors along with Chandor should add another great film to A24 Film’s amazing catalog.
A Most Violent Year also stars Albert Brooks, David Oyelowo (The Butler), and Alessandra Vivola. Check out the trailer below.
