Trailer: Creed

The amazing duo of Ryan Coogler and Michael B Jordan are back together with Warner Bros new boxing drama, Creed.

A spin-off from the Rocky story, Jordan plays Adonis, the son the late Apollo Creed (thanks for not throwing in the towel Rocky). Check out the synopsis:

Adonis Johnson  never knew his famous father, boxing champion Apollo Creed, who died before Adonis was born. However, boxing is in his blood, so he seeks out Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) and asks the retired champ to be his trainer. Rocky sees much of Apollo in Adonis, and agrees to mentor him, even as he battles an opponent deadlier than any in the ring. With Rocky’s help, Adonis soon gets a title shot, but whether he has the true heart of a fighter remains to be seen.

The trailer looks even better than I could’ve expected. Jordan and director Ryan Coogler had great chemistry together in Fruitvale Station. I’m hoping some of that same magic rubs on on Creed. This may be the vehicle that propels Jordan to the stardom he’s destined for. Creed also stars Dear White People’s Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Tony Bellew, Graham McTavish, and Andrew Ward.
