From Antoine Fuqua’s The Magnificent Seven remake to the eerie The Girl on the Train, so many trailers dropped this week. Here’s a look at them all.
The Magnificent Seven – 9.23.16
I seek righteousness, but I’ll take revenge.
The Magnificent Seven is one of the most loved Westerns. It’s going to be interesting to see how Antoine Fuqua interprets the story. The cast looks amazing with Denzel Washington alongside Chris Pratt, Vincent D’Onofrio, Matt Bomer, and Peter Sarsgard as the big bad guy. At least we finally know where the Old Man Denzel pic originated from.
Independence Day: Resurgence – 6.24.16
They like to get the landmarks.
It’s the alien attack sequel nobody asked for. It looks bigger, bolder, and a messier than the first. I have so many questions: Didn’t Dr. Brakish Okun die in the first Independence Day? Why are these aliens using the same World Engine Zod used in Man of Steel? I’m really hoping for a Liam “I think I’m the better brother” Hemsworth performance. IDR should be a lot of mindless fun, a lot of speeches, and very little original plot.
Jason Bourne – 7.29.16
Remembering everything doesn’t mean you know everything.
After letting Jeremy Renner borrow his franchise for a second, Matt Damon is back as the elusive super spy Jason Bourne. You had me at Jason Bour- but adding Alicia Vikander, Tommy Lee Jones, Vincent Cassel and Riz Ahmed only makes the honey pot sweeter. The Vegas strip scene looks insane and there’s sure to be more insane action this time around. Like the great Kirk Franklin said, “It’s never to late to come back home.” Welcome back home Matt Damon, welcome back home.
The Infiltrator – 7.15.16
When there is no loyalty, it never ends well.
I would’ve loved to see Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor. Seeing Cranston as an undercover drug dealer in the 1980’s is a close second. He’s perfect for the role because so intense, charming, and can be a little scary at times – the big mustache and bad hair are a bonus. Benjamin Bratt is a very underrated actor. I’m happy to see him getting to shine playing a real ruthless drug lord.
Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates- 7.8.16
She looks like Burn Victim Barbie..
And your’e Black Ken.
It looks like this year’s wedding comedy is Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Despite the necessarily long title, Mike and Dave has some potential to be funny. Adam Devine, Zac Efron, Anna Kendrick, and Aubrey Plaza are enough to make me see this. With an R rating, there are plenty of high jinks and dirty jokes that won’t make any of the trailers.
The Girl on the Train – 10.7.16
Why are you here?
Because I’m afraid of myself.
A murder mystery, missing girl, a person proclaiming their innocence, an adaptation of a popular book – this trailer gave me serious Gone Girl vibes and I mean that in a good way. Emily Blunt is fantastic and I can’t wait to see her dominate onscreen again. Also, the remix of Kanye West’s Heartless is perfect.
