Clip: Batman: The Killing Joke

The upcoming animated film, Batman: The Killing Joke, released its first clip today. The adaptation of the famous 1988 graphic novel is DC Universe Animated’s first R rated movie – a bold choice but one that should please fans.

DC Universe Animated’s track record of good animated films gives fans of The Killing Joke graphic novel hope that they’ll handle the story correctly. Here’s a brief synopsis for the film:

Joker escapes from Arkham Asylum, shoots Barbara Gordon, and tortures Commissioner Gordon in an effort to drive him insane.

Like most fans, I’m excited Mark Hamill is back to voice The Joker and Kevin Conroy returns at the voice of Batman. Whatever faults DC/WB films have, they’re light-years ahead of anyone doing animated comic book adaptations.

Batman: The Killing Joke will have a one night only special event in theaters July 25th, released on digital platforms on July 26th, and be available on DVD/Blu-ray on August 2nd.

Check out the clip below. Fast forward to the 3:56 mark for the clip.
