A24 Film’s newest film Ex Machina has it’s first trailer and it looks fascinating. I affectionately dubbed this movie ‘Sexy Chappie”, but after the first trailer I can say I’m very intrigued. If you’ve been keeping up with A24, the films they distribute aren’t’ always what they seem – that’s what makes the studio so unique.

Here’s they synopsis:

Caleb Smith (Domhnall Gleeson), a programmer at an internet-search giant, wins a competition to spend a week at the private mountain estate of the company’s brilliant and reclusive CEO, Nathan Bateman (Oscar Isaac).

Upon his arrival, Caleb learns that Nathan has chosen him to be the human component in a Turing Test—charging him with evaluating the capabilities, and ultimately the consciousness, of Nathan’s latest experiment in artificial intelligence. That experiment is Ava (Alicia Vikander), a breathtaking A.I. whose emotional intelligence proves more sophisticated––and more deceptive––than the two men could have imagined.

If you’re buying stock in Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson, now is the time. With Star Wars Episode VII looming in their new future, I expect them both to be household names before 2015 is over. Ex Machina looks like a mind-bending journey built around meshing artificial intelligence, humans, love, and lies. I can’t wait. Check out the trailer below
