Show Me a Hero is a new miniseries from HBO based on a book of the same name by, Lisa Belkin. The six part miniseries will fill in the True Detective time slot and show in two part episodes 8/16, 8/23, and 8/30.
Oscar Isaac leads the all-star cast along with The Walking Dead’s Jon Bernthal, Alfred Molina, Winona Ryder, James Belushi, and Brianna Horne.
It looks like Oscar Isaac is trying to get an Emmy nomination along with an Academy Award nomination this year. Show Me a Hero looks like an intense, in-depth look at housing discrimination. Having The Wire’s David Simon and Crash’s Paul Haggis involved means there will be a lot of uncomfortable, in your face scenes in this series.

In an America generations removed from the civil rights struggles of the 1960s, the young mayor (Oscar Isaac) of a mid-sized city is faced with a federal court order to build a small number of low-income housing units in the white neighborhoods of his town. His attempt to do so tears the entire city apart, paralyzes the municipal government and, ultimately, destroys the mayor and his political future.
